Swann's strength is his ability to spin the ball at a high tick, a bit like Bill O'Reilly with his leggies back around WWII. Being able to get revs on the ball, get some turn and do it above 85kph is a unique ability that not many offies can achieve.
His weakness, however, is his tendency to bowl full, thus not taking advantage of actually having the ball spin of the wicket. When he gets his length right he's quite dangerous, particularly if he gives the ball some air on the odd occasion.
Keep his attitude in check and he'll have a few more years in front of him for sure and the bloke can bat too. I'm quite certain Adil Rashid will have to wait around for a long, long time before he can get a proper shot... same with Monty Panesar.

You've missed the new contingent of 19-23 year olds who have had marvellous summers this season. Some of the new fast bowling talent is to die for, I am quite certain that we'll see some really young faces in the side soon.
It also looks like Xavier Doherty is becoming a preferred spinner ahead of Krejza for Tasmania, he's bowling much better.

Sledger is right, from the first morning I watched, Rahim's keeping was very shabby to say the least to the spinners.

Bangladesh team is alright for scores around the range of 350. To survive with that, they need some quality fast bowlers and to be honest, Hossain doesn't have the pace to unsettle me. Rubel has some pace but he's short and slingy which makes the ball come a good pace for batsmen to carnage so he has to work on top accuracy along with hostility.

I don't think their spin attack is that bat, Shakib is very good. Madmudullah isn't that bad either, he can get the odd wicket here and there but bowls a lot of loose delivery, which reminds me of myself haha.

Lastly, I've always admired Swann bowling since I first saw him I think was in India against the Indians or a little while before that. He does it his way and gets success and echos what the great teachers of spin always say, you got to bowl at the speed that suits you. Panesar made a big error by trying to slow down his speed, what he misunderstood was that he needed to variate his speeds. Off spinners in general needs to bowl faster through the air seeing they can't get as much rev as a leggy bowling at 50 MPH and under.

I'm only interested in the IPL to see the international guys, as simple as that. I can't watch Rajastan bat if Smith or Yusuf Pathan isn't batting!

Aussies have Lee, Nannes, Johson, Tait for raw pace then the likes of Harris, McKay, Siddle, Clark the more line and length bowlers and the swing of Hilfenhaus. Put in Hauritz, Smith and Krejza and you have 3 bowling line ups right there. Hodge, Ferguson, White, Paine, Jacques, Rogers and you've got quite a competent 2nd xi. I'm sure there are more batsmen blazing runs out in Aussies. Needs to take a leaf out of Bond's book. He took a few weeks off to mull over retiring from test cricket so that the emotion in the heat of the moment didn't play a role. Yes he is , but due to some of his antics on and off the feild and straight from the mouth attitude , he dosen't have consensus of supporters inspite of being one of the great in ODI's.

Fine defiance from Siddique and Rahim , interspersed with some excellent shotmaking. History was always against them though , even when they made lunch without losing a wicket. Once Siddique went for a terrific 106 one suspected that the rest would cave in pretty quickly. Lovely 95 from the keeper , but I can't agree with zuhair , I though his keeping was diabolical ! Standing up to the spinners on a track that wasn't doing anything , he was poor and allowed so many to go through.
Another brilliant effort from Graeme Swann , 10-217 , terrific! Lovely drift and flight , the lad just gets better and better.
Still , encouraging for the home side , but wickets like that aren't good for the game. Put two decent batting sides on surfaces like this one and you can write down "draw" in the book before the first ball's been delivered!

This is brilliant from Mushfiq and Junaid. I very much like Mushfiq - he is such a fine batsman and a very good keeper too. A fine fine prospect. Aussies will win it easily India have alot of good batsman but they dont even have a single decent bowler and SA's backup is not that great.

Australia could sport an A side that would be in the top 5 in the world, I am sure. Whether that team would be completely youth is a different question, there are many 30/31 year olds who play exceptionally well but won't get test recognition at their age.

Steven Smith should get a game methinks. He's made 3 or 4 big scores in a row now, and just grabbed a 7-for. His batting looks good, I'd like to see him slot in and do a job at the back end of the batting with Haddin. His bowling is coming along too, he has some talent and can turn it a little more than White. I think he can improve.

Bangladesh needed their skipper, Shakib al-Hasan to fire. He failed with the bat in the first innings by playing a poor shot. Bangladesh actually look like making around to 350-400 if Shakib can contribute, the likes of Tamim and Rahim make their line up look decent... not to mention the gifted Mahmudullah who looks likes he'll become a bit of a Samaraweera (off spinner turned middle order bat).
       Bresnan is bowling well, surprisingly. I always felt that he was a decent player but a little too bits-and-pieces. The fact he can open the bowling then come on later and gets some reverse swing , in the 130-140kph region, is promising, albeit he is no Anderson. Against another team Bresnan might be lucky to get a test, considering Anderson isn't playing and England would be more confident with an out and out pacer like a Tredwall, Plunkett, etc.
Pietersen is back in form, although I don't really think he was completely out of form... perhaps more out of luck and a bit unseasoned due to a long lay off. Another man though, Jon Trott will be sweating over his place, perhaps not for this series but for the upcoming summer. His position at the moment is comparable to Marcus North of Australia.

Swann has really blossomed over the past twelve months - I would say he is the finest off spinner in present days cricket. Another hiding in the offing here , Bangladesh just aren't good enough. England made 599-6dec with big tons for Cook and Collingwood and a sparkling return to form for KP who fell on 99. In reply Bangladesh were dismissed for 296 with Swann the pick of the bowlers , taking 5-90. Finn impressed as well , fine line and length , a real prospect here.
         Batting 2nd time around (no follow on enforced) England made 209-7 , setting the home side the highly improbable total of 513 to win. Currently they're 59-2 with Swann and Finn taking a wicket apiece.
         You'd have to say this won't go much past lunch tomorrow , even though the pitch is holding up well.

Lankans are a damn good T20 side - I haven't found any of the games interesting so far. Yusuf Pathan's ton, though was remarkable - even though it was a depleted bowling unit. the strategy time out now twice in the inning is even more irritating than the 5 minutes time out last year. Australia just have so much depth that it's amazing. I don't think any sporting team in the world has ever had that much. 43% longer,still 33% shorter,120% sweeter but no Shoulder or splice but very expensive....Mongoose!

Will this new bat which has 43% longer handle, 33% smaller blade yet 120% more of sweet spot, change the Power hitting ? .
