Afghanistan Tour of Bangladesh 2022: All you Need to know- Squads, Fixtures and more

Afghanistan cricket team will play 3 ODI’s and 2 T20I’s against Bangladesh starting from 23rd of February 2022, with the last match being played on 5th of March 2022.
The ODI’s will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Bangladesh while the T20I’s will be hosted at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh’s star batter Tamim Iqbal is making a comeback to the side after a long break from cricket owing to an injury. He last played an ODI in July 2021.
Afghanistan will also see a revamped squad with senior players including Mohammad Shahzad, Gulbadin Naib, Hashmatullah and Hamid Hassan left out.
ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf was optimistic about the changes done to the Afghanistan squad. According to him, “The selectors have included some young faces to the ODI line up which is a good sign for us, as we are leading into the World Cup next year. The three ODIs are important for us and I am sure the squad carries enough strength to do well when they get to the field”.
Current Form Afghanistan:
Afghanistan have performed invariably well in the recent times. They clean swept Netherlands last month by 3-0. Top performers of the bilateral series were Hashmatullah Shahidi who scored 155 runs in 3 matches at an average of 72.42 and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who picked up 7 wickets at an average of 14.28. Najibullah Zadran was also brilliant with the bat as he accumulated 100 runs in 3 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 105.26.
Afghanistan have been a formidable unit lately and they will give a tough fight to Bangladesh at their home ground.
Current Form Bangladesh:
Bangladesh played an ODI series each with Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe last year. They beat Sri Lanka by a margin of 2-1 and clean swept Zimbabwe by 3-0. Hence, the ODI outfit of Bangladesh are very difficult to beat in their home conditions.
Batting lineup will be boosted with the return of veteran Tamim Iqbal. With the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah holding strong in the middle order, Bangladesh batting looks very strong. At Bangladesh pitches, the spinners have been very hard to score off and Afghanistan batters will have to find ways to score runs against the quality bowling attack of Bangladesh.
The series will be very interesting to watch as both sides are very strong on their day and the ones to hold their nerves at important occasions will emerge as the winner.
