Afghanistan Tour of India, 2024 - Squads, Fixtures and All you need to know

Afghanistan are touring India to participate in a 3 match T20I series, starting from the 11th of January at Mohali. The third T20I will be played on the 17th of January at Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are returning to the fold as Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are rested. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side and hence, his chances to captain India in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 are brighter than ever.

India's star players like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav are missing out on the T20I's due to injury. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been vested with the responsibility of donning the wicket keeper gloves during the series. All rounder Shivam Dube is also making a comeback into the squad.

The trio of Mukesh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan are going to be the strike bowlers for the T20I series.

Afghanistan will be led by Ibrahim Zadran in the series. Under his captaincy, Afghanistan won a 3 match T20I series against UAE recently.

The squad also features experienced campaigners like Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Gulbadin Naib. The chances of Rashid Khan participating in the series are grim as he is rehabilitating from a lower back surgery.

Naveen-Ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb ur Rahman will take over the responsibility of picking up wickets for Afghanistan.

According to Mr. Mirwais Ashraf, the ACB Chairman, "We believe that Afghanistan are no longer underdogs & have excelled well in the recent past and we look forward to a highly competitive series against India.”
