Alviro Petersen denied NOC for MCL

South African domestic side Highveld Lions have refused to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to former Proteas batsman Alviro Petersen to participate in the Masters Champions League (MCL).
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Richard Levi, Rory Kleinveldt and Robin Peterson have also been denied NOCs to take part in the MCL by their respective franchises.
The players have not been issued NOCs as the South African domestic season clashes with the fixtures of the MCL Twenty20 tournament which will be played in the United Arab Emirates.
Petersen revealed the news on twitter and said, “It’s with regret that I announce that @HighveldLions CEO & Board denied me an NOC to play in @MCL2020UAE. My team mate Mc Kenzie got his NOC.”
Petersen, who played 36 Test matches for South Africa between 2010 and 2015 had announced his international retirement in January 2015 but is still active in the domestic circuit.
Last week, the International Cricket Council clarified that the MCL was a tournament for retired players only and termed the requests for NOCs by current players “unacceptable”.
