Australia XI v Sri Lanka finishes as a draw - Jon Holland Audio

The three-day tour match between the Cricket Australia XI and Sri Lanka at the Blundstone Arena has finished as a draw.


The Cricket Australia XI started day three with a lead of 239 runs before Vice-Captain Kurtis Patterson took charge with the bat, notching a second century for the match with an unbeaten 102 runs off 136 balls.

Marnus Labuschange (50) and Will Pucovski (33*) were the next best at the crease for the CA XI, both pairing with Patterson for 90 run partnerships before the hosts declared at tea with a lead of 364 runs and score of 3-224.

Lahiru Kumara (1-48), Dushmantha Chameera (1-28) and Kasun Jaitha (1-9) were the only wicket takers for Sri Lanka in the second innings.

The CA XI picked up the ball with intent, with fast bowler Michael Neser striking with pace early, taking two wickets in the first 10 overs.

Spin bowler Jon Holland also made an early impact, with two wickets in his first four overs. He continued to challenge the batters, finishing with standout figures of 4-28.

Neser (2-8 off 5 overs) was the only other wicker taker as the CA XI restricted Sri Lanka to 6-131 in the second innings.

Batters Lahiru Thirimanne (46*) and Roshen Silva (23) were top scorers in Sri Lanka on the final day.
