Bourne CC - Groundcare Diary – Week ending May 10th 2020

Whilst we are in ‘lockdown’ we are following the Bourne CC Groundcare team (Clive Brown and Ian Greenfield) through the season as their ground maintenance programme progresses throughout the Spring and Summer in readiness for a Return to Cricket.

We caught up with them this week......

Maintenance work carried out on the square week ending 10 / 5.

Wednesday May 6th

1 Brush surface using drag brush   

2 Verticut individual strips against the lie of grass but in the direction of play 

3 Cylinder cut strips to 15mm

4 Tidy edges of the artificial surface.

Friday May 8th

1 Using the Sisis - verticut No 5 strip in several directions, this work is part of renovation programme following unsatisfactory inspection.[Meadow grass / poor grass present - needs to come off].

2 Lift germination sheet on No 9 strip for growth progress.- new grass just beginning to show, Water area and replace sheet for a further few days

3 Remark centre points of the 15 strips.

Hoping for some much needed rain over the weekend, cold weather for the next few days forecast in this part of the country.
