Cricket on Ice 2024 Post Tournament Report

German Cricket Club won the 2024 Cricket on Ice Tournament after beating Old Cholmeleians by 27 runs in the final played on Saturday 17th February.
The German Cricket Club began the day with a stunning display of resilience and skill. Despite the early setback of losing opener Philip Bächstadt (7) in just the second over, courtesy of a sharp stumping by Old Cholmeleians' keeper Nirav Patel off Stephen Gray's delivery, the German side refused to be deterred.
The momentum shifted dramatically as David Roberts (57no) and Michael Richardson (61no) took charge, orchestrating a magnificent 121-run partnership without conceding a wicket, laying the groundwork for a resounding victory.
In response, Old Cholmeleians endeavored to chase the target, yet they fell short, accumulating 112-7 within their allotted overs. Jules Schlagmann led the charge with a commendable 27 runs, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap, ultimately leaving the team just shy of victory by the same margin.
This year's tournament faced significant challenges. Leading up to the event, we were constrained to a single pitch, and then, just days before, a team withdrew. Despite these obstacles, Cricket on Ice 2024 ultimately emerged as a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of a few individuals and the exceptional efforts of the catering team and kitchen staff from the Laudinella Hotel.
