Cricket World and Turf Matters Groundcare Awards 2019 at the Home of Cricket

Unfortunate weather to end a fantastic day at Lord's
It's jumped from sun to pouring it down within the blink of an eye.

Craig Keast - Wells Cathedral School
Craig has done an oustanding job as Head Groundsman, in his 32 years of serivce he continues to produce superb cricket wickets.
The pitch is widely regartded as one of the finest in the county, especially with the view of Wells Cathedral as a back drop.

Bob Carder - Stamford School
Bob and his team do an outstanding job on a very limited budget.
It's the dedication and attention to detail Bob sets and keeps to.

Martin Woods - Wargrave CC
Over 140 years of cricket at Wargrave CC, 30 years of service from Martin Woods.
We are now hosting minor county matches and 4 day games, with a total of 70 plus games we host in all the different leagues.

Martyn Crowther - Bradshaw CC
Since taking on the role 4 years ago Martyn has made vast improvements to the ground, especially on the pitch.
Martyn also carries out 'invisible repairs' replacing draings etc saving the club thousands.
A lot of hours he puts in nobody really sees, going straight to the ground from work and getting very little help from others.

Nick Bull - North Leeds CC
Nick has tirelessly looked after the ground at North Leeds for several years now and handles the ever increasing workload along side his day job.
As the volume of cricket increases at the club he's managed to lead the club to the clubs first Waddilove Cup competition victory in 125 years.
He's also been instrumental in creating a new they're developing in memory of an U17 cricketer who tragically passed away.

Cliff Clark - Harlow CC
Joining the club in the late 1970's as a player then taking over groundsmanship over 25 or 30 years ago, he's improved the clubs wicket, enlargening it and ground maintenance in general.
Even helping build a 2nd club cricket ground ten years ago the other side of the club pavilion!

Graham White - Sissinghurst CC
He began helping the club as a 15 year old boy, and is now a 71 year old 'volunteer' for Sissinghurst CC.
As well as taking on the role of groundsman, he's taken on a handful more such as barman and continues to be an active member of the club.

Laurie Turner - New Ifield CC
Mr Turner is in his late 60's and has been involved with the club for most of his life, an astonishing 52 years.
Following his retirement from regular play in 1990 he became more involved with maintenance and had been a volunteer for ground maintenance since 1982.

Andy Harris - Buckingham Town CC
Unfortunately another one who couldn't be with us today as he's taking a well earned break.
Andy has been the groundsman at Buckingham Town for 10 years and in that time he has prepared the ground to the highest standard and takes great pride in doing so.

Pete Clark - Alcester & Ragley Park CC
Unfortunately Pete was unable to join us today at Lord's because of health reasons but we felt it was important he was recognised at Lord's as a winner for his 50+ years of service for his club and the perfect way was to show our appreciation for what he has done for the game.
We would like to post a little bit about our winners, how they were chosen and their cricket story, so enjoy the next few posts...

And a huge 'thank you' to all the sponsors who made it possible today - Rigby Taylor, Dennis, SISIS, Boughton Loam and ISEKI.
