England finally ended their losing streak as they defeated the Netherlands by a massive margin of 160 runs.

England won the toss at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune and batted first. The Jos Buttler-led side piled up a big total of 339 for nine and then bundled out the Dutch side for 179 to win only their second game of the tournament.

England had a decent start with the bat with Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan (87:74b, 10x4, 2x6) adding 48 runs for the opening stand. But after their partnership the team lost wickets and were yet again under pressure. Joe Root (28:35b, 1x4), Harry Brook (11:16b, 2x4), Jos Buttler (5:11b,) and Moeen Ali (4:15b) couldn’t get going at all. With England reeling at 192 for six, Ben Stokes (108:84b, 6x4, 6x6) and Chris Woakes (51:45b, 5x4, 1x6) joined hands and they together bailed the team out of trouble. They added 192 runs and helped the team post a total of 339 for nine. For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede picked three wickets.

The Netherlands kept losing wickets right from the start and it didn’t seem they were in a chase at all. Wesley Barresi (37:62b, 3x4, 1x6) tried to get going but couldn’t. Sybrand Engelbrecht (33:49b, 3x4, 1x6) and Scott Edwards (38:42b, 3x4, 1x6) failed to convert their starts as the English bowlers were all over them. Teja Nidamanuru (40 not out :33b, 2x4, 3x4) remained unbeaten in the end but fell short of partners as England bundled them out for 179 to win the game by 160 runs. Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali picked three wickets each.
