England fast bowler David Willey is set to rejoin the national One-Day International squad to face Pakistan after he was cleared of any serious injury to his left hand.

Willey suffered an injury when he was struck on his left hand by a drive from Durham’s Mark Stoneman in the semi-final of the NatWest Twenty20 Blast on Saturday.

Willey was initially withdrawn from the ODI squad and was replaced by Jake Ball but after further scans ruled out a fracture, the 26-year-old is slated to rejoin the squad on Thursday.

According to an England spokesperson, Willey will be monitored by the medical staff during the series against Pakistan.

“On further review today, David Willey has been cleared of a fracture to his left hand and he will rejoin England's ODI squad on Thursday,” said the England spokesperson.

“His progress will be monitored by the medical team during the series.”

Willey also took to Twitter to give an update regarding his injury and said that he will be back in action as soon as the swelling in his hand goes down.

The England-Pakistan five-match ODI series will begin in Southampton with the first game on 24th August and will move on to Lord’s for the second game.
