As Abahani Limited beat Prime Bank Cricket Club by 8 runs in the last match of the Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League, they won their 21st DPL title.

Abahani Limited finished at the top spot in the Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket Super League points table with 12 wins and 4 losses from their 16 matches of the tournament to register their fourth hat-trick of title wins in the Dhaka league. The team had 24 points.

Prime Bank Cricket Club ended up a close second, at the 2nd spot in the Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket Super League points table with 11 wins and 5 losses from their 16 matches of the tournament - two points behind Abahani Limited.

Top run-scorers

Minazur Rahman, the top run-scorer for Brothers Union, ended up as the highest scorer in the tournament as well, with 418 runs at a strike rate of 133. He struck 44 fours and 14 sixes. 

Mahmudul Hasan Joy, the top run-scorer for Old DOHS Sports Club, finished as the second highest scorer in the tournament, with 392 runs at a strike rate of 121. He struck 24 fours and 17 sixes. 

Nurul Hasan, the top run-scorer for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, ended up as the third highest scorer in the tournament, with 389 runs at a strike rate of 149. He struck 19 fours and 26 sixes. 

Top wicket-takers

Mohammad Saifuddin, the best bowler for Abahani Limited, ended up as the highest wicket taker in the tournament as well, picking up 26 wickets while bowling at an average of 15 and an economy rate of 6.77.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi, the best bowler for Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, finished as the second highest wicket taker in the tournament, picking up 25 wickets while bowling at an average of 14 and an economy rate of 7.38.

Shoriful Islam, the best bowler for Prime Bank Cricket Club, is the third highest wicket taker in the tournament, picking up 22 wickets while bowling at an average of 17 and an economy rate of 7.13.

Bottom line

Top players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal failed to make a big impact in the competition.

The tournament was marred by controversy, including Shakib's ban, Sabbir Rahman's fine and allegations of unfair decisions by umpires.

Shamim Hossain, Nurul Hasan and Aminul Islam broke into the Bangladesh T20I side for the Zimbabwe tour on the back of their performances in the domestic tournament.
