Dolphins ladies aim to extend winning streak

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies head north this weekend to take on the Fidelity Titans in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series, striving to maintain their unbeaten run in both the Pro20 and Pro50 competitions.

The Dolphins have been in electrifying form across both formats and have won all eight matches that they have played so far this season.

It will be the second meeting of the teams this season after the Dolphins won the Pro50 match and the Pro20 match by two wickets in the first round of fixtures at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium.

With three players, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Nondumiso Shangase and Ayanda Hlubi, leaving the squad to link up with the Proteas ahead of their series against England, the Dolphins have brought in a few new faces.

Nosihle Sisanda Ngubane, Kwanga Pinini and Esihle Kawu are the new players in the squad and Esihle Kawu will receive her first cap for the Dolphins if she plays this weekend.

Head coach Angelique Taai has seen her side grow from strength to strength and a number of the players have put their hand up during the season. Having collective contributions has been a goal for the coach.

“Consistency is key and always what you are looking for in a player,” Taai said. “We also very much focus on a holistic team performance whether it is with the bat, ball and fielding.

“Our players have all had a role to play and have made important contributions.”

Looking back on what the team has achieved so far this season, Taai says that she couldn’t be prouder of her chargers.

“No words can describe how proud am I of the ladies. I guess the hard work they put in behind the scenes is paying off.

“We as management are always looking for ways which will enhance the player’s performance, and I am grateful for the support staff I have who is contributing immensely to the success we have had thus far.”

The Dolphins travel to Pretoria to tackle the Titans and for Taai despite the change in scenery their approach won’t change.

“No matter the venue we know that our basics will remain the same and we just need to continue doing what we have been doing this season,” Taai added.

The Dolphins currently top both the Hollywoodbets Pro20 and Pro50 logs after four rounds of fixtures.
