Eng v India 2nd ODI: Topley topples India as England levels ODI series






















England levelled the three-match ODI series against India with a massive 100 run win in the second game at Lord's on Thursday night.
Asked to bat, England posted 246 in 49 overs and in response, India was bowled out for 146 in 38.5 overs.
Earlier, England got off to a sedate start with Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow putting on 41. Then there were regular fall of wickets as England was reduced to 87 for four. Later, the side hobbled towards 148 for six in 29 overs. Then there was a face-saving 62 run seventh wicket stand between Moeen Ali (47) and David Willey (41) which revived the innings. Towards the end England lost wickets in quick succession as they ended on 246 on 49 overs. For India the best bowlers were Yuzvendra Chahal (4-47), Hardik Pandya (2-28) and Jasprit Bumrah (2-49).
For India the chase was forgettable. They were reduced to 31 for four. Thereafter Suryakumar Yadav (27) added 42 runs for the fifth wicket with Hardik Pandya (29). But after the partnership was broken, India's batting struggled further. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja added 39 runs for the seventh wicket. In the end India was bowled out for 146 in 38.5 overs. For England the best bowler was Reece Topley (6-24).
The series finale will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday, 17 July.
