Hampshire Disability Squad Win Bluebird Care Cup

Hampshire Disability Cricket have won the inaugural Bluebird Care Cup thanks to an unbeaten record during the 2013 season.

The county's cricketers were undefeated against their opponents in the South West regional competition, which is run by the British Association for Cricketers with Disabilities (BACD).

"As a side we worked very well together with both great individual and team performances and we are very proud of what we have achieved," captain Alex Hammond said.

"For a young team  we played with extreme maturity and gave our all in every game," Hammond, who is also part of the England Physical Disabiilty squad, added.

Sponsor and Bluebird Care franchisee Phil Miles said: "I'm delighted with the team’s success. Our Newbury and Hook franchises have also supported Alex and Dan Reynaldo with 1 to 1 coaching programmes and both have gained international recognition.

"We hope that this winter’s candidates Hugo Hammond and Josh Mead can also realise their potential."

During a memorable season, Hammond also captained the England team and made his debut in the Southern Electric Premier League for Alton.
