The International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared Bangladesh bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny to bowl in international cricket after their actions were found to be legal in an independent re-assessment.

The duo were reported for having a suspect bowling action during the 2016 World Twenty20 and they were suspended from bowling in international cricket after failing an independent assessment in Chennai.

However, the pair, after undergoing remedial work on their bowling actions, underwent official re-assessment at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on 8th September.

The official re-assessment in Brisbane ruled that both the bowlers did not exceed the allowed 15-degree elbow extension and thus the ICC has cleared them to resume bowling in international cricket.

Expressing his happiness at the news, Sunny said that he is eager to return to cricket by playing in Bangladesh’s National Cricket League.

“I feel at peace now,” Sunny told ESPNcricinfo.

“I am really happy that my bowling action has been cleared by the ICC.

“It was a big test for me, and I have passed it.

“I had gone through months of rehabilitation, and to finally have my action cleared is great.

“Taskin too went through all of this since we were both reported, suspended and went for the reassessment together. I haven’t spoken to him yet.

“I have heard the good news only a few minutes ago.

“I haven’t really shared it with too many people but I will. It is something that would take my career forward.

“I am going to be playing the NCL from September 25, and it is all I am thinking about right now.”

Meanwhile, Ahmed is all set to be added to the Bangladesh One-Day International squad to face Afghanistan in the first two games as was confirmed earlier by chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
