Match Analysis
Asked to bat first, India ended with a big total of 205 for five, in response, Australia ended with 181 for seven.
It wasn’t the kind of start that India would’ve wanted as Virat Kohli’s torrid run with the bat continued, perishing for a duck.
After that, skipper Rohit Sharma (92:41b, 4x7, 8x6) went berserk and didn’t look back. Sharma slammed Australian bowlers all over the park and kept his team ahead in the game.
Rishabh Pant (15:14b, 1x4, 1x6) and Suryakumar Yadav (31:16b, 3x4, 2x6) supported the captain well and added 87 and 34 runs respectively for the second and third wicket. In the end, it was Shivam Dube (28:22b, 2x4, 1x6) and Hardik Pandya (27 not out:17b, 1x4, 2x6) who made sure India ended the innings on a high.
Based on the collective effort with the bat, they posted a massive total of 205 for five. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of one for 14.
In the chase, Australia lost David Warner in the first over. But after that skipper Mitchell Marsh (37:28b, 3x4, 2x6) and Travis Head (76:43b, 9x4, 4x6) counter-attacked the Indian bowlers and put them under pressure.
The Head-Marsh duo added 81 runs for the second wicket and brought their team back in the game. Glenn Maxwell (20:12b, 2x4, 1x6) made a valuable contribution but after that, nothing went Australia’s way. India bowlers kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals.
India restricted the opposition to 181 for seven and won the game by 24 runs.
