ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Match 18: WI vs UGA - Uganda come crashing down in massive defeat

West Indies thrashed Uganda by a massive margin of 134 runs in the Group C fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. West Indies after opting to bat, posted 173 for five and then bundled out Uganda for just 39. 

West Indies were off to a brutal start with the bat as openers Johnson Charles (44:42b, 4x4, 2x6) and Brandon Kings played aggressively. The duo added 41 runs for the opening partnership before Nicholas Pooran (22:17b, 3x6) chipped in with a quick fire on knock. Skipper Rovman Powell (23:18b, 1x4, 1x6) and Sherrfane Rutherford (22 not out:16b, 2x4, 1x6) made handy contributions. But it was Andre Russell (30 not out:17b, 6x4), who finished the innings on a high as West Indies posted 173 for five. 

Uganda had a forgettable outing with the bat. They got all out for just 39 in 12 overs. Akeal Hosein picked five wickets as batters looked clueless against the hosts’ bowling line-up. Juma Miyagi was the top run-scorer but the others failed.
