Netherlands began their campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign with an emphatic six wicket win over Nepal at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Tuesday.

Nepal after being asked to bat posted 106 in 19.2 overs and in response Netherlands chased down the target with eight balls to spare to finish on 109 for four in the seventh game of the tournament.

Nepal kept losing wickets at regular intervals in this Group D clash. Skipper Rohit Paudel held the innings together as he made 35 off 37 balls with five boundaries. The other batters just did not support Paudel. Gulshan Jha and Karan KC tried to maximise the score but in the end Nepal was bowled out for 106 in 19.2 overs. For Netherlands the best bowlers were Tim Pringle (3-20), Logan van Geek (3-18), Paul van Meekeren (2-19) and Bas de Leede (2-22).

In their response Netherlands was well served by a 40 run second wicket stand between Max O’Dowd and Vikramjit Singh. O’Dowd carried the bat right through as he remained unbeaten on 54 off 48 balls with four boundaries and a six. Netherlands finally chased down the target to finish on 109 for four in 18.4 overs.
