The highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy is getting underway on the 22nd of November with the hosts Australia squaring off against India in the First Test match. The 5th and the Final Test Match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy will take place from the 3rd of January, 2025.

Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney are the five venues that have been finalized to host the Test Matches.

Australia are currently placed at the first position World Test Championship table with a rating of 62.50 in 12 matches they participated in.

India on the other hand are right behind Australia with a rating of 58.33 in 14 matches they participated in.

India will need to beat Australia by 4-0 in order to register a place in the Final of the World Test Championship. If they can't do it, India will have to depend on the results of the Test Matches that other teams like Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa participate in.

India are currently in a dismal form in Test Cricket. They have recently suffered a hammering against New Zealand at home as they were white washed in the 3 match Test Series held recently.

None of India's senior stepped up to the occasion and the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will have to bring their A game to Australia in order to pose any challenge to the Australian bowling. Rohit Sharma is reportedly going to miss the series opener due to personal reasons.

When it comes to the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah has been a consistent performer for India. Mohammed Siraj will have to perform to his potential if he has to get any purchase from the Australian conditions. Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna are the other pacers that have been selected for the Tour. Mohammad Shami's inclusion in the Playing XI is subject to his fitness. If he can make it, India's chances of beating Australia will take a big leap forward.

Youngsters like Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abhimanyu Easwaran have also been handed over their maiden caps in Test Cricket. If given a chance, the youth will look forward to shine bright in the upcoming matches against Australia.

Australia on the other hand will be led by Pat Cummins. They have named a strong squad for the First Test including big match players like Travis Head, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland, Nathan Lyon, Josh Inglis and Mitchell Starc. Nathan McSweeney has been given a chance to showcase his talent in the upcoming Test Matches.

India last toured Australia way back in 2021, where they registered a historic win against Aussies.

Australia certainly hold the advantage over India in the Test Series due to their current form and their past performances in home conditions.
