Kaneria Planning To Adjust His Action And Approach

Pakistan leg spinner Danish Kaneria is planning to adjust his action and runup in an effort to replicate his test success in the one-day arena and consolidate a place in next year's World Cup. Kaneria has taken 183 wickets in 43 test matches but only 12 in 16 one-day internationals since making his debut in 2000. "All the great leg spinners of the modern era have done well in both forms of the game. I want to emulate them," he told Reuters on Monday. "I know I can adjust to the requirements of one-day cricket without sacrificing my wicket-taking ability." Kaneria, who has been included in the Pakistan one-day squad for the five-match series against West Indies starting on Tuesday, said he would also talk to former captains Imran Khan and Javed Miandad. "I have experimented in domestic one-day games by slowing down my runup. I will also consult Imran and Miandad, two of our best captains, to see how I can convert my wicket-taking success in the test arena to one-day cricket," he said. "I want to talk to them as they used our former leg spinners, Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed, effectively in one-day matches. "My ambition is to play in the World Cup. I want to follow in their footsteps as they contributed a lot to Pakistan in one-day cricket.
