Sri Lankan batsman Lahiru Thirimanne has flown back home due to a back injury and Niroshan Dickwella replaces him in the One-Day International squad for the remainder of the series against England.

Dickwella, a wicket-keeper batsman, is currently a part of the touring Sri Lanka A team in the United Kingdom and he was also the member of the Test squad earlier in the campaign against England.

A press release by Sri Lanka Cricket revealed that Thirimanne suffered from a back strain on 23rd June.
Thirimanne took part in the three-match Test series against England but did not feature in any of the ODIs Sri Lanka have played against the hosts or in their short tour of Ireland.

Sri Lanka are already having injury concerns with Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal, both of whom have hamstring niggles.

However, both Mathews and Chandimal took part in the washed out third ODI in Bristol along with Farveez Maharoof, who is suffering from a fractured finger.

With two games remaining in the series, England, who currently have a 1-0 lead, need just one more win to claim a victory in the ODI campaign.
