Lions Cricket announces strategic partnership with Kanu Equipment

Lions Cricket has officially launched its partnership with Kanu Equipment, a company specializing in earthmoving, mining, construction, and agriculture machinery. This collaboration aims to elevate the Lions' operations and performance across the cricketing ecosystem. The partnership aligns with the team's vision to power up #ThePrideOfJozi, driving innovation and support for their cricket endeavors.
Aligned in values and sharing the same vision of impacting the lives in the communities in which they serve, Kanu Equipment and Lions Cricket have big plans ahead so says Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright;
“We are extremely fortunate to have Kanu Equipment join our family. One of the most thrilling items for me is the provision of the ten pitch rollers to our community clubs – which will enhance the quality of cricket being played and further improve our already powerful pipeline. Because of this partnership, we will have better cricket pitches in our system that will assist hundreds of talented youngers to perform even better and showcase their skills on a fair pitch. The pitch is the stage, and as the custodians of cricket, it is the duty of Lions Cricket with the assistance and hard work of our wonderful clubs to make sure that the players stage is always set come game day, and that all that’s left to do, is for the players to perform to the best of their ability.”
“These rollers, through the commitment of excellence from Kanu Equipment will be fully serviced and maintained by them for 10 years – that in itself takes a huge load off our shoulders,” says Leaf-Wright. “Further to this, those clubs who will be receiving new rollers, will have any current rollers they may have refurbished by Lions Cricket, and donated on to other clubs in need.”
Commencing immediately; friends, fans and families will see the presence of the Kanu Equipment brand throughout the DP World Wanderers Stadium and at the clubs being supported; but may well be unaware of just how much goes on behind the scenes in the day to day running of the brand voted Sports Organization of the Year in 2023.
CEO Stephen Smithyman says that Kanu Equipment is very proud of its new partnership with Lions Cricket;
“I have personally seen the change that cricket can make in community development. We are fully supportive of the excellent work that the Lions do in supporting their cricket clubs and unearthing talent within these communities. Kanu Equipment is proud to play a small role in this by assisting Lions Cricket in their cricket pitches and providing world class Bomag equipment. We would also like to thank our equipment partners Bomag as without their world class rollers this would not be possible.”
Leaf-Wright concludes;
“I am extremely excited about this partnership because it is directly impacting our clubs – and they with our schools are the very lifeblood of this Pride
