Yorkshire Ridings edge Berkshire in thriller.

Yorkshire Ridings 146 for 6 (R.Davies 45*; G. Orrell 42*; C.Sethi 2-24) defeated Berkshire 145 for 6 (D.Toose 51; J.Dinsdale 2-22, A.Mackle 2-28).
Batting first, Berkshire’s captain David Tooze batted beautifully to reach a half century before he became one of John Dinsdale’s two wickets. There were some handy contributions from Ken Fuller (26*), Don Townsin (15), Trevor Lacey (13) and Richard West (13) before they settled for a competitive score of 145 for 6 from their allotted 30 overs. It was a consistent effort by the Ridings’ bowling attack as Dinsdale and Mackle captured two wickets each. Chasing 146 for victory, Ridings stumbled to 75 for 6 before an inspirational partnership between Ron Davies (45*) and Gary Orrell (42*) swayed the momentum in their favour. The match went to the very last over with 7 runs required. A boundary off the third last ball sealed a memorable victory for Ridings by 4 wickets.
