Chinmoy Roy joins us for another masterclass this time in catching drills and movement on the field.

Set up

  • Place a pole at the starting block. Place another pole at a distance of 20 metres which is the ending point.
  • 5 metres from the starting pole place 5 bigger in diameter hoops. There is a distance of about one stride length between two hoops.
  • The last bigger hoop is 10 metres from the starting pole.
  • 5 metres from the last bigger hoop place 5 smaller in diameter hoops each at 6 inches away from another.
  • The distance from last bigger hoop to ending pole is 10 metre.
  • From the centre of the two different hoops coach stands at another pole at a distance of 10 metres with 10-12 soft balls.

Technical Cue

  • During sideways move ensure a soft impact on grass.
  • Stay on the ball of the feet.
  • Knee and hip slightly flexed.
  • Dive only if you can not reach with hands. Do not premeditate.
  • Coach needs to feed the ball with great precision.

Reps and sets

  • 5 times going and coming back is one set.
  • After one set rest for 3-4 minutes. Repeat 2-3 sets
  • Keep 3 men at the starting bock so that there is a rest and work ratio of 2:1
