New Zealand registered their second successive win in the warm-up match ahead of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup after they beat South Africa by seven runs at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday.

New Zealand after opting to bat posted 321 for six in their 50 overs and in their response South Africa was at 211 for four in 37 overs when play was halted due to rain. New Zealand were seven runs ahead at the time on the Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) method).

Earlier, New Zealand's innings was riding high on Devon Conway's 78 pff 73 balls with 11 boundaries and a six. Skipper Kane Williamson also retired on 37. There was a 218 run second wicket stand shared around Conway, Williamson and Glenn Phillips. Tom Latham (52: 56b, 4x4, 1x6) held the innings together. Towards the end there were useful cameos from the lower order as New Zealand finished on 321 for six in their 50 overs. For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi (3-33) and Marco Jansen (3-45) were the best bowlers.

In their response, South Africa was well served by a 72 run stand for the second wicket between Quinton de Kock (84 n.o.: 89b, 12x4, 1x6) and Rassie van der Dussen (51: 56b, 9x4). Then de Kock teamed up with Heinrich Klaasen for the fourth wicket. This stand was worth 56 runs. When rain halted play, South Africa was at 211 for four in 37 overs. New Zealand were ahead by seven runs at the time and were declared winners. For New Zealand the best bowler was Trent Boult (2-20).
