Rob Johnston writes extensively for Cricket World, usually following the fortunes of England home and away as well as other series including county cricket. He is also a member of the Hot Spot video team.
Date of birth: 8th December 1985
Teams played for: Old Southendian & Southchurch CC, Essex Sunday League Representative XI
Interests outside of cricket: All other sports, running (I’ve completed six marathons), reading, politics and red wine
Most memorable cricket moment: Being at the MCG on Boxing Day in 2010 when Australia were bowled out for 98 and England ended the day on 157 for 0.
I’m a long suffering England and Essex CCC fan lucky enough to have been present at two 5-0 England defeats in Australia. A lucky omen I am not.
I still play every weekend for my club’s 1st XI in the Essex Cricket League as an opening batsman and wicketkeeper. Not quite Adam Gilchirst but I do alright.
