Sunrisers Hyderabad began their campaign in the IPL 2025 with a thumping 44 run win over Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

 Asked to bat, Hyderabad posted a massive total of 286 for six, in response, Rajasthan managed just 242 for six.

Hyderabad was off to a flying start with the bat courtesy Abhishek Sharma (24:11b, 5x4) and Travis Head (67:31b, 9x4, 3x6). The duo added 45 runs for the opening partnership to put pressure on the opposition.

After Sharma got out, Ishan Kishan (106 not out:47b, 11x4, 6x6) and Head did the further carnage and added 85 runs for the second wicket. Kishan batted till the end and slammed a brilliant hundred. Nitish Kumar Reddy (30:15b,4x4, 1x6) and Heinrich Klaasen (34:14b, 5x4, 1x6) supported Kishan as Hyderabad posted a massive total of 286 for six.

Chasing the target, Rajasthan lost three quick wickets and were left reeling at 50 for three. Sanju Samson (66:37b, 7x4, 4x6) and Dhruv Jurel (70:35b, 5x4, 6x6) brought the team back into the game with their 111-run stand. But Hyderabad made a strong comeback, removing both the set batters quickly. Shimron Hetmyer (42:23b, 1x4, 4x6) and Shubham Dubey (34 not out:11b, 1x4, 4x6) fought hard with their 80-run stand. But the target was too much in the end as Rajasthan managed 242 for six, losing the game by 44 runs.
