Chanderpaul Inducted In College Cricket Hall Of Fame As Lara, Walsh, Adams, Lloyd Honoured

On Saturday night in NYC, a truly momentous occasion in the USA took place as Brian Lara and Shiv Chanderpaul, with three other cricket greats - Clive Lloyd, Courtney Walsh and Jimmy Adams - were celebrated for the incredible joy they have given us over the years at an awards party organized by Angels Caribbean Entertainment Co. and RH Entertainment. The legends were honoured for their careers and fans of the game were given the opportunity to get autographs and photos with their idols – it was a celebration of cricket stars, for the fans not just cricketers.

UMBC, Montgomery College Through To Mid-Atlantic Semi-Finals

The fourth & fifth matches of the TV cricket season in the USA & Canada were the Semi Finals of the American College Cricket Mid Atlantic Championship: Virginia Tech vs University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC); and Montgomery College vs Long Island University-Brooklyn. The teams squared off at the British Officers Cricket Club in Evansburg, PA in picturesque autumn shades of gold, rust-brown & red – a truly unique setting for cricket which is so much a summer sport. The temperature, in brilliant sunshine, was in the 60?s as the college players took the field.

Sandra Ibarra To Lead USYCA Summer Programmes In Maryland

Sandra Ibarra, a former member of the USA women's national squad and more recently the South West Region Women's Cricket Coordinator, has agreed to take a leadership role with USYCA. Sandra, an ICC Level I cricket coach, recently moved to the Baltimore area and will be coordinating the new community youth cricket programs starting this summer in Maryland.

Bangladesh Gain ODI Status, Pakistan Reach Final

Hosts of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2011, Bangladesh, have secured One-Day International status for first time for its women’s side after Salma Khatun’s side beat USA in a low-scoring fixture. Meanwhile, Ireland defeated fellow European qualifier and ODI side Netherlands, to retain its ODI status – the result means that Netherlands has lost its ODI status for the women’s side. Bangladesh and Ireland will now face-off on Saturday in the 5th/6th play-off for the tournament at BKSP* 2.

First Televised Match In USA & Canada By American College Cricket

Saturday Oct 29 2011 in the annals of world cricket will be looked back on as one of the most important days - Rutgers University played NYU-Polytechnic on TV in USA and Canada. It was the first time domestic cricket was televised in the USA and Canada on a major channel, TV Asia. In addition, the enormity of college sports in the USA promises a whole new universe for world cricket.
