West Indies vs India, 2nd ODI: West Indies hit back with 6 wicket win over India

After the humiliating defeat in the first game, West Indies came up with a near to perfect performance at the Kensington Oval at Bridgetown in Barbados in the second ODI on Saturday. Bowling first, they ended the Indian innings on just 181 runs and then in reply chased the target inside 37 overs with six wickets in hand to level the series 1-1.
It was a horrendous batting display from the Indian team without their kingpins in Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Put into bat, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan gave a decent start to the team, stitching 90 runs for the opening partnership. But they were back in the dressing room in quick succession. Gill wasted his start as he perished for 34 runs off 49 balls with the help of five boundaries, whereas Kishan on the other hand smashed the second consecutive half-century and ended with 55 runs that included six boundaries and one six. After the opening stand, Indian wickets fell like a pack of cards as no other batter crossed the 25-run mark. Suryakumar Yadav tried to decode the ODI format but he lost his wicket too after a great start. He scored 24 runs off 25 balls with the help of three boundaries. India collapsed from 90 for no loss to 181 all out in no time with Romario Shepherd and Gudkesh Motie being the pick of bowlers with three wickets each to their name.
Chasing the target, West Indies opener Kyle Mayers (36: 28b, 4x4, 2x6)put on a show of unorthodox batting and added 53 runs for the first wicket with Brandon King, but the brilliance of Shardul Thakur was too much for them to handle as he removed both of them in same over. If this was not enough Thakur then went on to remove Alick Athanaze before Kuldeep Yadav rattled Shimron Hetymer’s stumps with a beauty. But after that skipper Shai Hope along with Keacy Carty changed the complexion of the game and put together an unbeaten 91 runs partnership to win the game for their side by six wickets. While Hope scored unbeaten 63 runs off 80 balls to go with two boundaries and two sixes, Carty ended with the knock of unbeaten 48 runs in 65 balls, including four boundaries, as West Indies levelled the series 1-1.
