The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are in discussions to hold a bilateral One-Day International series next month.

The BCB is mulling to host this series against Afghanistan prior to the visit from England but the talks between the boards are in preliminary stages.

BCB's cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan is hoping that the talks will reach a positive conclusion in the upcoming days.

“We are still in discussion with the needed personnel (and boards) but we cannot confirm anything at the moment.

“I hope we will be able to reach a conclusion soon and it will be informed accordingly.”

The media manager of the ACB, Aziz Gharwal maintained that the talks are still in preliminary stages and more details will be given once the dates are finalised.

“We are in talks with the BCB to play the series next month but we are yet to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.

“We haven’t yet set dates for the matches but we will soon publish them on our website.”

Bangladesh have not played ODI cricket since November 2015 and if the series against Afghanistan is confirmed, it will also be their first international fixture after the 2016 World Twenty20.
