Shubman Gill has been in red-hot form of late and took India to an ODI series win over Australia with a dominant batting display.
The Indian fans will expect the Indian opening combination of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma to get the team off to quick and big starts in the upcoming World Cup, with both players in good nick. Gill, in particular, is in the form of his life.
Shubman Gill recently struck his sixth ODI century in the second ODI of the India-Australia series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on 24th September. He was one of two Indian centurions on the day, including Shreyas Iyer, as the hosts sealed a series victory.
Gill's sensational ODI form in 2023 has taken him past 1200 runs with many more matches to come this year. Five of Gill's six ODI tons have come this year and he doesn't look like stopping any time soon.
The stylist batter smashed another record with his latest ton, becoming the fastest Indian to reach six ODI centuries (35 innings). Gill went past Shikhar Dhawan's all-time record, who took 42 innings to achieve the milestone.
Overall, Gill is the joint fifth fastest player in world cricket to reach six ODI centuries, alongside Quinton de Kock.
