On Saturday, 10th August, Dell Boys CC captain Tom Dunn smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest cricket run-up of all time with a 24.5km run (more than a half marathon), beating the previous record of 7.81km.

Tom Dunn’s route from Bethnal Green to Wandsworth in full cricket whites with match ball in hand took him past London’s most famous landmarks, before he successfully bowled the first delivery - without a wide or no ball.

Following the run, Tom miraculously took 6 wickets for 12 runs from 6 overs, including a wicket in his first over. His heroics paved the way for Dell Boys to beat TBCCC in their annual charity game by 5 wickets. Tom’s run and the charity day have now raised over £5k for Mind UK.

Dell Boys CC captain and record holder Tom Dunn said, “It was a real fairytale of a day. World record, 6 wickets and over £5k raised for charity. When we first founded the Dell Boys in 2020, we did it to bring friends together and meet new people moving to the city.

Sport is incredibly powerful and I’m grateful I could combine running and cricket to break a world record and all expectations we had when raising for Mind UK, a charity important to all of us. Thanks very much to everyone who donated.”
