Match Analysis
Asked to bat, Bangladesh got all out for 228, in response, India chased the target with more than three overs to spare.
Bangladesh was off to the worst possible start with the bat as Indian seamers Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana struck in the first few overs before Axar Patel took two wickets on two balls. This saw Bangladesh come under massive pressure and were left reeling at 35 for five.
It was then when Jaker Ali (68:114b, 4x4) and Towhid Hridoy (100:118b, 6x4, 2x6) joined hands and bailed the team out of trouble. The duo added 154 runs for the sixth wicket, which was the highest for the team against India in ODIs.
While Jaker got out at the end, Hridoy went on to hit a terrific century and based on his innings, Bangladesh went on to post 228. For India, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged a fifer.
In the chase, Rohit Sharma (41:36b, 7x4) took India off to a flying start with his aggressive mindset. He, along with Shubman Gill (101 not out:129b, 9x4, 2x6), added 69 runs for the opening partnership. Virat Kohli (22:38b, 1x4) walked out to bat at number three but couldn't score runs freely.
India came under pressure when Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel lost their wickets early and run scoring was made hard for the Men in Blue. But Gill carried his bat through and slammed a magnificent century. KL Rahul (41 not out:47b, 1x4, 2x6) supported Gill, the duo put on an 87-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take India home with six wickets.
