Australian spinner Brad Hogg has lauded the Masters Champions League (MCL) as a great concept which will evoke a lot of interest among the fans of the game.

In the player auction, Hogg was picked by the Libra Legends team, which is captained by former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.

Dismissing rumours that Ganguly will not take part in the MCL due to injury, Hogg said that the 43-year-old is on target to play the first match on the 28th.

“I have been told that he will be here on 27th January (Wednesday) and (he will be) ready to play the first match on the 28th, which will be great," Hogg said.

“I played a lot against him but haven’t played with him.

“I think he is my most scalped Test cricketer.

“I have only got 17 Test wickets but I think I have got him out four times.

“I am looking forward to seeing how he captains the team.

“I wanted to get Ganguly out but he is in my team,” said Hogg with a laugh.

Hogg has a chance to play against former team-mates like Brad Hodge and Adam Gilchrist, who play for the Gemini Arabians and the Sagittarius Strikers respectively.

Stating that he never got a chance to play against Gilchrist, Hogg is looking to lock horns with one of Australia’s best batsman.

“I’m looking forward to it because there are past players, who haven’t played for a bit and there are other players that have been playing cricket.

“So, (it will be) a little bit of a mixture but it is great to catch-up.

“I am looking forward to playing against my old team-mates such as Brad Hodge and Adam Gilchrist.

“Gilly has kept for me for a long time and I will be looking forward to bowling against one of the best Australian batsman that I did not get a chance to play against.”

MCL provides an opportunity for the fans to see their idols in action once again and Hogg is excited to be a part of the tournament in its maiden edition.

“I think it (MCL) is a great concept.

“This is the first that it will be played.

“As I said before, we’ve got a mixture of older players, who haven’t been playing a lot of cricket and younger players so I think it is going to provide a lot of interest out there with the fans.

“They (the fans) don’t want their favourite players to retire.

“It will be competitive out there.

“I am really looking forward to it.”

Most recently, Hogg played in the 2015-16 Big Bash League for the Perth Scorchers and picked six wickets from nine games.
