Lucknow Super Giants snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they beat Rajasthan Royals by two runs in the 36th Match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday.

Opting to bat, Lucknow posted a total of 180 for five, in response, Rajasthan managed 178 for five.

Lucknow didn't have the kind of start they would've wanted as they lost in form Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran early. Soon after that, Rishabh Pant also perished as the visitors were reduced to 54 for three.

However, after that, Aiden Markram (66:45b, 5x4, 3x6) and Ayush Badoni (50:34b, 5x4, 1x6) brought their team back into the game.

Both the batters slammed vital half-centuries and added 76 runs for the fourth wicket. In the end, Abdul Samad (30 not out:10b, 4x6) played a brutal innings and powered Lucknow to a total of 180 for five.

Rajasthan opened with 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34:20b, 2x4, 3x6) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (74:52b, 5x4, 4x6). The move paid off incredibly well as both the left-handers went hammers and tongs at the opposition and took their team off to a flying start.

While Suryavanshi slammed a first-ball six, Jaiswal hit a brilliant half-century as the duo added 85 runs for the opening partnership.

After that, stand-in skipper Riyan Parag (39:26b, 3x4, 2x6) joined hands with Jaiswal and stitched a 62-run partnership to take the team close to the target. Lucknow made a strong comeback with quick wickets, and the game moved to the last over, with Rajasthan needing nine runs.

Avesh Khan then oozed his class with the ball as he defended it against Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel to take his team home.
