Marnus Labuschagne 81 and Travis Head 84 batted Australia into a strong position today against Sri Lanka – the two batsmen put on a partnership of 166 for the 5th wicket, taking the game away from Sri Lanka. Kurtis Patterson 30 and Mitchell Starc 26* also contributed significantly to the Australia total and Australia closed their innings on 323 all out and had a 1st innings lead of 179 over Sri Lanka - Suranga Lakmal 5-75 was the pick of the Sri Lanka bowlers.
Sri Lanka finished the day on 17-1 - Pat Cummins taking the wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne, with the last ball of the day.
