Sri Lanka added a further 92 runs to their overnight 1st innings total of 123-3. Dimuth Karunaratne top scored with 59 and Mitchell Starc 5-54 and Nathan Lyon 2-70 were the main wicket takers for Australia.
Australia then decided to bat again, rather than enforcing the follow on, scoring 196-3 before declaring and setting Sri Lanka a total of 516 to win. Usman Khawaja 101* and Travis Head 59* put on an unbeaten partnership of 159 for the 4th wicket, in just over 32 overs.
