Bourne CC - Groundcare Diary – Week ending June 21st 2020

Whilst we are in ‘lockdown’ we are following the Bourne CC Groundcare team (Clive Brown and Ian Greenfield) through the season as their ground maintenance programme progresses throughout the Spring and Summer in readiness for a Return to Cricket.
We caught up with them this week, with junior training and nets for juniors and seniors underway and the prospect of play in July a real possibility......
Maintenance Work carried out on the Abbey Lawn week ending 21/06 /20
Monday - Grass a bit damp this morning - brushed square taking moisture off the leaf. white marked individual strips. inspection of the grass is showing a bit of Red Thread, must get that under control.
Went to Stamford school to have a look at their square, Looked an absolute picture, I must do better on ours.
Wednesday - Brushed square removing leaf moisture. Verticut across the square using the sisis, careful not to score the surface, cylinder cut across the direction of play to 25mm [decided to leave a bit of growth on] Heavy rolled No1 and No 12 strips for 15minutes each, [Grass nets are required] Fertilised the whole square, two passes. rain forecast for tomorrow
Thursday - rained most of the day yippee.
Saturday - Marked out three areas on the outfield. Youngsters have a coaching session on Sunday. Social distancing measures employed to each section
Sunday - We were scheduled to work on the square this morning however as I write rain falling, Not a good June weather wise.
Shorter days are coming and not a ball bowled so far ALAS.
