The onus then came onto Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das who played cautiously in the early part of the Bangladesh innings. Once their eyes got set, both the batters capitalized on every opportunity they received while facing the Afghanistan attack.

Liton Das made a well-deserved 136 in just 126 balls. His innings featured 16 fours and 2 huge maximums. On the other hand, Mushfiqur Rahim missed out on his century as he was dismissed for 86 in 93 balls. On the back of these phenomenal knocks, Bangladesh could cross the 300 run mark easily and made 306 for 4 in 50 overs.

Chasing 306, Afghanistan lost 3 wickets for just 34 runs. Post that period, Rahmat Shah and Najibullah Zadran combined together to stitch a partnership of 89 runs for the 4^th wicket. Shah was dismissed at 52 by Taskin Ahmed. Zadran too lost his wicket to Taskin after a well-made 54 in 61 balls. Nabi and Rashid Khan tried to fight it out towards the latter part of the innings but it was not enough as Afghanistan got bowled out for 218 in the 46^th over, as they lost by a huge margin of 88 runs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Shakib al Hasan both picked up 2 wickets each as they bowled with good economy rate.

Liton Das was adjudged man of the match for his incredible show with the bat.
