West Indies opener Brandon King took Jamaica Tallawahs to their 3rd title in the Caribbean Premier League.

Jamaica Tallawahs won the inaugural edition of the Caribbean Premier League in 2013 and doubled up in 2016. However, the team had lost its way since then, so much so that they were not even given a chance before the beginning of the competition.

JT somehow scraped through to the playoffs but suffered a massive setback in the final as Mohammad Amir, who had been their leading wicket taker in the competition, was ruled out due to a groin injury. Their next best pacer Migael Pretorius also got injured which left Jamaica Tallawahs hamstrung.

However, the rest of the players came to the party in the absence of their leading pace bowlers. While Brandon King was front and centre of that surge, Fabian Allen and Rovman Powell also played a key role in Jamaica's title victory.

King finished as the top run-scorer in the competition with 422 runs from 12 matches at a strike rate of 135.26. With this performance, he has all but sealed his opening slot for West Indies in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

His Windies opening partner Kyle Mayers ended up as the second-highest run-scorer in the competition with 366 runs.

King struck an unbeaten 83 off just 50 deliveries on the night of the big final and made easy work of the 162-run target as Jamaica Tallawahs won by 8 wickets to lift the trophy.
