Cricket World Player of the Week - Jos Buttler

Rajasthan Royals' opener Jos Buttler brought up the first century of IPL 2022 with an explosive innings against Mumbai Indians.

It has been courtesy of sensational batting performances, not only from Buttler, but from the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson and Shirmon Hetmyer as well that Rajasthan Royals find themselves at the top of the points table after the first week of IPL 2022.

The Royals won their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad quite comfortably and then beat Mumbai Indians by 23 runs in their next match.

Jos Butler smashed a brilliant century against MI, making 100 runs off just 68 balls with 11 boundaries and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 147.46. He was finally dismissed by a Jasprit Bumrah yorker, but by that time, the damage was already done.

Buttler did not take part in the second installment of IPL 2021 but had made another such awe-inspiring century in the first half of the last year.

There was some debate surrounding the batting position of Buttler given that Rajasthan Royals have several openers in Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson as well but all the conversation around the topic ceases to exist with his magnificent hitting display.

Rajasthan Royals are going quite strongly this year and are one of the contenders for making it to the playoffs. If Jos Buttler maintains his form, a Final berth also appears well within RR's reach.
