Pacer Jasprit Bumrah took India to a 238-run victory against Sri Lanka in the second Test match with his maiden Test 5-wicket haul at home.

Having played 20 Test matches, Jasprit Bumrah was yet to play a Test match in India, which finally came against England last year.

The pace bowler was appointed the vice-captain of the team ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka which meant that he would play more and more in home conditions, even in red-ball cricket.

Bumrah reiterated that he is mighty effective not only in overseas conditions where it is conducive for swing and seam but even on Indian pitches.

He has now picked up 12 wickets from 79 overs in Tests in India at an average of 17.08 which is even better than his overseas bowling average of 22.51 in Test cricket.

Bumrah claimed his maiden 5-wicket haul in Test cricket in India in the second Test match, taking 5/24 in the first Sri Lankan innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

He doubled up with three more wickets in Sri Lanka's 2nd innings to help India to a comfortable 238-run as India took the series 2-0 without breaking a sweat.

In the process, Bumrah completed his eighth 5-wicket haul and emulated Kapil Dev in his 29th Test match.
