SCORECARD

The Pat Cummins-led side won the toss and after opting to bat first they posted a total of 399 for eight. The Dutch side were bundled out for just 90 runs.

Australia had a magnificent start despite losing Mitchell Marsh early. David Warner (104:93b, 11x4, 3x6) and Steve Smith (71:68b, 9x4, 1x6) added 132 runs for the second wicket. They batted magnificently well and after their partnership, Marnus Labuschagne (62:47b, 7x4, 2x6) chipped in as well with a half-century. But the real blitz came from the bat of Glenn Maxwell (106:44b, 9x4, 8x6). The all-rounder smashed the fastest century in World Cup history as he achieved the feat off just 40 balls. His brutal knock in the end powered Australia to a gigantic total of 399 for eight. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of four 74.

The Netherlands were blown away by the Aussies as they had no answers to questions put in by the bowling team. Vikramjit Singh (25:25b, 6x4) looked settled but was run out. Wickets fell like a pack of cards as no other batter could go past the 15-run mark. Every Australian bowler chipped in and picked wickets. Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of four for eight.
