CWC23 Match 33: India blow Sri Lanka away, book semi-final slot

India booked their berth in the semi-final of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 as they thumped Sri Lanka by 302 runs. 

The match took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which witnessed Indian dominance all throughout. Asked to bat first, they posted a total of 357 for eight and then bundled out Sri Lanka for 55 to win their seventh consecutive game.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was back in the hut on the second ball of the match. But after that, it was a great show put up by Virat Kohli (88:94b, 11x4) and Shubman Gill (92:92b, 11x4, 2x6). The duo played magnificently well and added 189 runs for the second wicket.

After their wicket, Shreyas Iyer (82:56b, 3x4, 6x6) did the carnage and made Sri Lanka bowlers look clueless. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja (35:24b, 1x4, 1x6) played a vital knock in the end that took India to a big total of 357 for eight. For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up five wickets.

Sri Lanka's batting effort was all about Indian pacers as they were all over the Sri Lankan batters. They didn’t let the batting team settle at all and removed wickets in a flash. Mohammed Shami picked five wickets, Mohammed Siraj bagged three wickets whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja picked one each. India bundled out Sri Lanka for just 55 and won the game by 302 runs.
