ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Match 9: Uganda win first-ever World Cup encounter

Uganda emerged victorious in the Group C clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 as they defeated Papua New Guinea by two wickets.
The Providence Stadium in Guyana was host to the ninth game of the tournament on Tuesday. Asked to bat, PNG got bundled out for 77 and in response, Uganda chased the target with the barest of margins.
Papua New Guinea didn’t have an outing with the bat as they kept losing wickets right from the first over of the game. They lost their five wickets for just 48 runs as Uganda bowlers were all over them. Lega Siaka (12:17b, 1x4), Hiri Hiri (15:19b, 2x4) and Kiplin Doriga (12:20b, 1x6) were the contributors with the bat as Papua New Guinea was bundled out for 77. For Uganda, Frank Nsubuga (two for four) was the pick of the bowlers.
It was a similar kind of outing for Uganda with the bat as they also lost wickets upfront and were reeling at 26 for five. But Riazat Ali Shah (33:56b, 1x4) held his nerves under pressure and played a decent hand for his team. Juma Miyagi (13:16b) in the end played a vital knock as Uganda chased the target with two wickets.
