Match Analysis
Asked to bat, Rajasthan posted a total of 182 for nine and in response, Chennai managed just 176 for six.
Rajasthan had a poor start to their innings as out of form batter Yashasvi Jaiswal lost his wicket in the first over. But after that, Nitish Rana (81:36b, 10x4, 5x6) came up with a magical innings and took command of the game.
He looked brutal right from the start and slammed a half-century in just 21 balls. Sanju Samson (20:16b, 1x4, 1x6) supported him well as the duo added 82 runs for the second wicket. Later, Riyan Parag (37:28b, 2x4, 2x6) also played a vital hand as he and Rana stitched 38 runs for the third wicket.
However, after their wickets, Rajasthan couldn't get going as Chennai kept picking wickets at regular intervals. In the end, they managed 182 for nine and for Chennai, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed and Noor Ahmad picked two wickets.
In the chase, in-form batter Rachin Ravindra was back in the hut on the second ball. But skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (63:44b, 7x4, 1x6) and Rahul Tripathi (23:19b, 3x4, 1x6) brought their team back into the game with their 46-run stand.
Gaikwad held one end up, but didn't have the support at the other end, and later he too succumbed to the pressure. MS Dhoni (16:11b, 1x4, 1x6) and Ravindra Jadeja (32 not out:22b, 2x4, 1x6) gave some hope to Chennai fans with a blitz down the order, adding 35 runs for the sixth wicket. With 20 needed in the last over, Dhoni got out as Sandeep Sharma held his nerves to win the game for Rajasthan by six runs.
