Cricket World Player of the Week - Nat Sciver-Brunt

Player of the Match in the WPL 2023 final, English all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt played an instrumental role in helping Mumbai Indians lift the trophy in the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that both the Player of the Match (Nat Sciver-Brunt) and Player of the Series (Hayley Matthews) awards went to players from MI when that team went on to win the championship, but it remains a special achievement nonetheless.
MI collected plenty more awards for their already glittering trophy cabinet as Hayley Matthews also claimed the Purple Cap. Harmanpreet Kaur won the award for the Catch of the Season while Yastika Bhatia took home the Emerging Player of the Year award.
If anyone deserved a pay cheque in excess of INR 3 crore at the auctions, despite the budget constraints, it had to be world class all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt. NSB showed her worth with crucial contributions with both bath and ball throughout the season.
With 332 runs from 10 matches at 66.4, she finished with the highest batting average in the competition. She was only one of three batters to breach the 300-run mark in the WPL alongside Meg Lanning and Tahlia McGrath and the second highest run-scorer overall, only behind Delhi skipper Lanning.
NSB clinched 10 wickets at 22.80 and was one of the leading bowlers for MI as well. She made great use of her slower ones as the pitches began to wear and tear in the latter half of the WPL.
Much like Meg Lanning, the break has done Nat Sciver-Brunt a world of good as she appears in a great frame of mind to produce match-winning performances consistently.
