On a day that former South African captain Faf du Plessis smashed a brilliant century in the Bangladesh Premier League, he also raked in INR 7.0 crore in the IPL 2022 Auctions.

Faf du Plessis had a brilliant couple of years for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. In fact, it was his opening partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad that took Chennai to the 2021 IPL title.

Du Plessis' name led to a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL 2022 auctions, with the batter finally going to Virat Kohli's team for 7.0 crore.

This may or may not have had anything to do with his brilliant century for Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League where he smashed 101 off just 54 balls with the help of 12 fours and 3 sixes, going at a sensational strike rate 187.04.

The Comilla Victorians captain took his team to 182 but could not get them over the line as Khulna Tigers chased down the target courtesy of another brilliant century from Andre Fletcher.

Faf du Plessis is currently the top run-scorer for Comilla Victorians with 240 runs at a strike rate of 137. He has struck 25 fours and 7 sixes.

There are speculations around Faf emerging as Royal Challengers Bangalore's captain after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. He is also likely to open the batting for RCB alongside Kohli.
