Cricket World Player of the Week - Ravindra Jadeja

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja may have flown a bit under the radar in the ongoing ODI World Cup, but he has quietly done his job, as always.
India posted 326/5 from their 50 overs after winning the toss and batting first in the 37th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
In the second innings, left-arm spinner Jadeja claimed a historic five-wicket haul as South Africa folded for just 83 in 27.1 overs to lose by a massive 243 runs.
This was Jadeja's maiden World Cup five-wicket haul as the all-rounder became India's second spinner to bag a fifer at the world event after Yuvraj Singh (5 for 31 vs Ireland).
As Virat Kohli matched Sachin Tendulkar's record tally of 49 ODI centuries with a masterful ton on a difficult pitch on his 35th birthday, he received the Player of the Match award. Kohli joined Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ross Taylor and Mitchell Marsh among batters with centuries on their birthday.
Jadeja deserved the MoM award as much after he broke the back of the chase with a fifer, following up on an unbeaten 29 off 15 balls. The spinner is now the third-highest wicket-taker for India in the competition, with 14 wickets at 17.36.
