Cricket World Player of the Week - Lizelle Lee

Former South African international Lizelle Lee may have retired from international cricket but she continues to motor along, recently finishing as the top run-getter for Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League 2023.
Hobart Hurricanes wicket-keeper batter Lizelle Lee slammed a brilliant ton against Melbourne Renegades in the 51st match of the Women's Big Bash League 2023, played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart on 23rd November.
Batting first, the batter carried her bat, remaining unbeaten on 101 off just 53 balls, striking 12 fours and 4 sixes. Lee made her runs at a scary strike rate of 190.57.
Cricket South Africa recently announced that they will no longer apply fitness standards as rigidly as earlier, and both their male and female athletes who fail to complete the fitness tests under the stipulated time frame will have more leeway to improve while still being part of the national set-up.
However, the decision seems to have come a bit too late, with the women's side already losing two world-class players in Lizelle Lee and Dane Van Niekerk, both of whom continue to remain active in T20 leagues all around the world.
Although Hobart Hurricanes failed to qualify for the WBBL 2023 knockouts, Lizelle Lee finished as their top run-scorer with 409 runs at a strike rate of 146. She struck 17 sixes and 47 fours.
